Short Bio
50 wordsJ. M. Erickson is an award-winning science fiction author and founder of Emergency Comms Press. A psychotherapist and school counselor based in Massachusetts, he writes dark, cinematic space opera and dystopian fiction exploring power, trauma, and the human condition. His work has been recognized by Kirkus Reviews (Kirkus Star for Excellence), Literary Titan, Readers' Favorite, and the LA Book Festival.
Long Bio
150 wordsJ. M. Erickson holds a BA in psychology and sociology from Boston College and a Master's in Social Work from Simmons University. A mental health professional balancing careers as a high school counselor, community therapist, and adjunct professor of behavioral science, he brings rare psychological depth to speculative fiction. His novels draw on the literary traditions of Melville, Hemingway, and Mary Shelley — obsessive quests, iceberg prose, and Promethean warnings about unchecked technology. Erickson founded Emergency Comms Press in April 2026 to publish bold, uncompromised science fiction on his own terms. His work spans space opera, dystopian thriller, and psychological sci-fi across five series and multiple standalones. He has received recognition from Kirkus Reviews (including a Kirkus Star for Excellence), Foreword Reviews, Literary Titan, the Los Angeles Book Festival, the Feathered Quill Book Awards, Readers' Favorite, and the International Impact Book Awards.
